A Great Place to Live

Brunswick, Maine is a wonderful place to call home:  a "big" small town with something for people of all ages and interests.  Whether you are raising a family or planning your retirement, you will find here all of the excitement - or quiet - that you could possibly wish.  Take a walk around our bustling downtown or, within a mile or two,  experience scenic coastline, rural farmland, and secluded wooded splendor.

Enjoy our wonderful restaurants and cafés, shops, marinas, and abundant outdoor activities. The town mall, or village green, offers skating in the winter, concerts and picnics in the summer.  A thriving Farmers Market is held outdoors in the warmer months and indoors, within the Ft. Andross Mill complex, when it is cooler.

Small business owners, artists and craftsmen, writers, independent business consultants, and many others who conduct their business via the internet thrive here and enjoy the area’s wonderful lifestyle.  The redevelopment of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station - now called  "Brunswick Landing" - promises tremendous growth and new jobs in higher education, the health-care sector, and green technology industries.

Superb faculties and facilities make our public and private schools strong.  Bowdoin College acts as a cornerstone for our area, and its cultural, academic, and library resources enhance town life in countless ways.

Brunswick is close to two major cities, allowing residents to balance more rural and urban interests:  Portland, a city of 64,000, with large-city amenities, including museums, renowned restaurants and an international airport; and Augusta, the State capitol, only 40 miles to the northwest.  Breathtaking spots surround us up and down the coast, from Cape Elizabeth to Rockport, and with countless spectacular peninsular towns in between.

You will find many knowledgeable realtors in the Services directory of this website.  Let the Brunswick Downtown Association help you access all of the resources you might need while considering a move to our town – from mortgage lenders to school reports, from health care resources to recreational and cultural calendars.
